En Medio
About
En Medio strives to educate and inspire latinx youth with compassion. En Medio stemmed from the idea that kids feel as though they are —between cultures and not good enough; in—between being the direct translation of En Medio. Latinx have more potential than what has been placed on them by systemic oppression. There needs to be a safe space for latinx youth to be able to come and express/explore their true identities and all that comes with growing up latinx in America.
Why this is important
Often kids of different races, find less encouragement to succeed in life due to cultural differences. There is a significant gap within the Hispanic community of millennials to their grandparents. Since this generation did not grow up in Mexico, they have lost or do not care to remember, the culture of their ancestors in the way that their parents or grandparents do.

Proposed Outcome
Main goal is to bridge the gap between cultural differences. It is to provide a voice for those who feel speechless. The people that take part in this program will hopefully see, listen, and learn how to be able to feel as though they do have purpose and a place in society. Through this program, kids will hopefully learn how to find their identity from within, gain confidence and break away from the roles that have been placed on their lives and develop new futures.
The hope is that the people who are a part of this program will be able to reconcile the differences they feel between two cultures. They should gain skills that allow them to feel confident in their unique identity while growing in cultural pride.
